Wounds and Remedy

I am learning that whatever imparts relational wounds in my life, is often the very same mechanism by which I heal.
If you’ve been betrayed by a friend you trusted…trusting a new friend will begin to heal you.
If you’ve been hurt by a faith community, a new, messy, imperfect, accepting faith community will bear some of that pain.
If you had a mentor or spiritual giant in your life fail you, you need the wise words of another mentor to help bring you back to life.
This reality is hard. Because when a person or a group of people has seemingly abandoned you, the last thing you want to do is open yourself up to the possibility of it happening again. But you have to.  It’s in those new friendships that your heart blossoms, and grows stronger; and as you begin to absorb love you find the strength to forgive and move on.
Don’t be so terrified of whatever wounded you that you close yourself off to ever experiencing the benefit of that thing again. There is the chance for more brokenness, yes, but there is equal chance for beauty. If you don’t take the chance on the beauty, you’re just left with yourself and the pain. That’s an incredibly lonely place and leaves you with nothing to offer other weary travelers.
The One calling and guiding us down this road is good. He is leading us to a place of becoming our true selves. We can trust that He will give us everything we need. He is the ultimate healer.

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgive you.  Eph 4:32
Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.
1 Pet 3:9
